DO NO HARM!
The first priority at Movement Wisdom is to ensure that the training will not do any harm to your body. This means we must screen you for potential problem areas to ensure you are safe during exercise.
Training begins with a comprehensive review of the biomechanical structure of your body. As a bare minimum, a 7 point functional movement screen and/ or comprehensive muscle balance testing sequence will be carried out. The nature of the tests make it instantly apparent to you whether you need to spend more or less time on this phase of training.
Muscle Activation Techniques (M.A.T.) provide us with the tools to check for symmetry between the left and right sides of the body and then check for the sometimes painful muscle tightness and overload which signifies weakness and potential injury sites elsewhere.
Once sites of muscle tightness are identified we can then objectively test for weak muscles or weak fibres within muscles and resolve the weaknesses as we move up the body.
If there is proper muscle balance, the joint will be correctly aligned and the movement of the joint smooth. However, If the muscle tension relationship is poor, the joint will be misaligned and too much load will wear away parts of the joint faster than others.
Your exercise programme is personally tailored to make your exercises follow the rules of YOU! Your learning curve and your training curve progress hand in hand so your knowledge of how your body works and your ability to use it develop in tandem.
This ensures you always work within your capacity and earn your abilities without fear of injury.
A skilled trainer can virtually "see inside" your body by observing the mechanics of the way you move. This skill allows us to design exercises tailored to the rules of your individual anatomy, current ability, and your tolerance for exercise on that particular day.
The acid test is then to install the newly restored muscle balance back into the movement pattern where it showed up and progress the pattern to the next level. Muscle balance must be maintained throughout the movement pattern as we then micro-progress it to the next level.
